I can still remember the days of playing house with cousins Sarah and Josh. (by the way, why were we always a gypsy family who lived in a house made of blankets and chairs, and even though we were “married” we had separate rooms?) Rachel and Pam were already moved on to their Sweet Valley High days, and Amy was probably sewing purses or running a tractor into the pond (not a joke). So Sarah, Josh and I were our own little clan growing up. So many great memories were made with my cousins over the years, and I really love them dearly. When I visit, I get to see everyone (except Josh in NYC) because they all bought houses in the same neighborhood! It was a long time coming for me to stop by and do some photographs for them, and I think we got some incredible images. I really love you guys and am so proud to be considered part of your family! Kitty and Scott – you are nowhere to be seen this time but I will get you all together for a portrait soon. Thank you so much for making me feel at home in your lives.

Who are all these folks?! Sara and Travis (or is it Traverse) have this little crazy named Caiden, and Rachel and Chris were expecting a little brother, Torrin, for Tirzah. “Were”, because Torrin is here now! I stopped by in July to get some preggers photos of Rachel, and some wall portraits of Caiden, then came back for little Torrin at 7 days old just last week! Enjoy!

I am pretty humble about my photography, but I just have to say that this session was SPECTACULAR because of this incredible family and the cool things we got to do. Chris is an officer and K9 handler for the sheriff’s department, and Teddy and Raine are a big part of their lives. So of course we let Torrin get to know them quite well at 1 week old. Yes, He is 7 days old here. Three words, Hairy. Benjamin Button.

Jeff and Connie, Laura, Jerry and Andy. What a crew! I wish I could spend more time around them. I am tempted to crack some jokes and give Jeff a hard time, but it is important to be genuine once in a while amidst all of the fun. The truth is I really like the guy, and what an incredible friend to my dad! It is such a joy to be around the whole family. Witnessing your family dynamic was an touching experience, I think the relationships you have formed amongst yourselves is wonderful. Over the years, I have enjoyed getting to know you all. Thank you for some much needed downtime at your cottage on Lake Charlevoix. We are always so grateful to you for giving our family a little respite from the realities of not living on a lake.
I was really excited when Dad told me Jeff and Connie were looking to have me do Andy’s Senior photos. I didn’t think I would say this in my photography career at least for another 18 years, but the first time I ever “met” Andy, he must have been no older than 2 ( meaning I was around 12 years old at the time). I had a good time with Laura, Jerry, and Andy. Then rounded up the whole family for some portraits that, I feel, really capture this family.

Thank you for all the hospitality you have shown my family over the years, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us all. (And we will find Craig and Sharon their very own place up North someday!)

This kid is so happy. In the two times we met, I think I saw a sad face start to creep up but it never turned into more than a little frown for a few seconds. He was cracking me up – incredible little guy!

Seeing Isla as a newborn and then getting to see her start to interact with the world this year was pretty neat. You will see from the photos that she has met Canadian Geese, fed them, been bitten by them, and is now not sure what to think. Addison is as cute as ever, and still very independent. I am excited to see these sisters grow up together.

A GREAT gift idea – just sayin’:) But I could not have been happier with little Maggie and her faces. As muggy and hot as it was, she was a lot of fun to work with and I think we got some cute stuff. Especially with the oversize raincoat! Props to mom and dad for picking that one out! If you want to hear more about what Maggie is up to you should check out her blog. You will have to ask Joanna and Ben how she learned to blog at such a young age!?

Blake works at AC Nielsen Bases and participated in a company United Way auction last fall. He was the winning bidder for a family session with me, but we were not able to coordinate a date until the weather was a little too cold for his girls to have some fun in our session together. So fast forward to this summer and we had a great time at Alms Park on a beautiful Friday morning. Anna and Emmeline (Emmy) were a blast – thank you for showing me a great time!

Among them was Jen, whose brother’s family was coming into town from Texas and wanted some portraits. So I got to scratch that one off my list: Clients from Texas – Check!

Their little Rylan is a ham, just such an incredibly happy little guy. I love seeing a family gather around and become so enamoured with this new little person that joined the ranks of the fam! I had a great time despite the sauna that Cincinnati was that day. Thank you for a great morning together. See the whole gallery here
